Why are we supporting air ambulances?
Allianz Insurance (UK) is proud to support the Association of Air Ambulances (Ltd) Charity (AAAC) as its national corporate charity partner. Allianz aims to raise £1 million between 2016 - 2018 to support air ambulances across the UK.
The AAAC is the national charity working with all 20 local air ambulance charities operating 37 charity funded aircraft. On average, each helicopter flies two missions per day, providing a life-saving service across the UK. Air Ambulances are almost entirely charity funded, so they rely on public donations and corporate partnerships.
As one of the largest property and casualty insurers in the UK, we know that trauma and medical emergencies can happen to anyone and although these can’t be prevented, our funding will help to ensure that the very best care is provided to those who need it as quickly as possible, via helicopter.
Air Ambulances are the first point of call for any major road traffic collision (RTC), which account for around 35% of all incidents the air ambulances attend. With paramedics and doctors on-board, the helicopters bring hospital treatment to the roadside. In these circumstances minutes can save lives; and early treatment gives patients the best chance at recovery and rehabilitation.
