Building Resilience

When you’ve got a mental health problem, many people believe you aren’t resilient or don’t have the skills to be resilient but that couldn’t be further from the truth. People with mental illnesses need to hear that they are strong and that they can overcome the barriers they’ve faced.

We strive to survive and when we learn the skills to be resilient we can learn to live a full life even though we have mental health difficulties.

Those of us facing mental health challenges are amongst the most resilient people because we’re still here, we are bouncing back time and time again whenever we have a set- back. I know that’s putting it in simplistic terms but I truly believe that although mental illness can be a huge barrier to overcome those makes us some of the most resilient people not only in the work force but equally in life.
